Renault Master Named Parkers Van of the Year 2025

The all-new Renault Master has been crowned Parkers Van of the Year 2025 - and it’s not hard to see why. According to the team at Parkers, the Master is now the best large van on sale, thanks to a host of improvements that make it smarter, more efficient and better value than ever.

A long-awaited update

The previous-generation Renault Master had been around since 2010, and by the time it was replaced in 2024 it was starting to feel dated next to rivals like the Ford Transit and VW Crafter. The new Master, though, brings a completely fresh platform, sharper styling and a thoroughly modern interior.

Renault has borrowed tech and design touches from its passenger car range to create a cabin that feels much more up to date, with a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, wireless smartphone connectivity and improved driver comfort.

Smarter efficiency

Parkers notes that some of the Master’s biggest gains aren’t always obvious at first glance. Subtle aerodynamic tweaks, such as redesigned mirrors and a reprofiled roofline, help cut drag and boost fuel economy. This allows the diesel Master to manage close to 37mpg in real-world driving - while the electric Master E-Tech can run a lighter, smaller battery without sacrificing range.

Load capacity has also been improved, with every version able to carry more than 1,200kg, while the fuel tank has been downsized without hurting practicality thanks to the improved efficiency.

Incredible value for money

What really stood out for Parkers is just how competitive the new Master is on price. Despite all the updates, Renault has kept costs level with the outgoing model – meaning the Master is thousands of pounds cheaper than key rivals like the Transit and Crafter.

In fact, Parkers notes that you can buy a large Master for about the same money as some medium-sized vans, making it an outstanding choice for operators who want maximum space and value.

On the road

Behind the wheel, the new Master is easy to drive, with excellent visibility, light steering in town, and a surprisingly tight turning circle for such a big vehicle. It’s quiet and refined on the motorway, too, making it a capable all-rounder for businesses who need a van that can do it all.

Verdict

Parkers sums it up best: the Renault Master is “utterly excellent” and a deserving winner of their Van of the Year 2025 award. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but its combination of efficiency, practicality, comfort and value puts it at the top of the class.
